Local Tech Evangelist Launches Startup Speaker Series
Prominent area entrepreneur and business leader Marcus Nelson has announced the launch of Startup Dream Team, an engaging new speaker series focused on startup success. Nelson conceived the event as an accessible community forum for insight direct from founders, executives and investors catalyzing Utah’s burgeoning tech and startup scene.
The inaugural Startup Dream Team event takes place March 14 at the Elite Hall in Salt Lake City. It will feature candid discussions with leaders from rapidly-scaling companies like MX, Chatbooks and Divvy in addition to top investors and advisors like Pelion Venture Partners’ Blake Modersitzki. Attendees can expect unfiltered, behind-the-scenes perspectives on building, funding and growing tomorrow’s tech giants from those intimately involved.
“Utah has long fostered startup success, but there’s still so much insider knowledge that doesn’t spread easily beyond the inner circles,” said Nelson, an entrepreneur and investor himself behind ventures like Ancestry.com, Family Search and leadership development firm Pillar.
“I started Startup Dream Team as a way for experienced founders, operators and backers to directly share their stories,” Nelson added. “Our speakers essentially give attendees access to the conversations they have among trusted peers. It leads to an incredibly valuable exchange of ideas and forging connections that push Utah business to keep growing and innovating.”
The series plans to host quarterly installments spotlighting different aspects of the startup lifecycle from vision to exit. Tickets for the March 14 event can be purchased through Eventbrite with proceeds benefitting the Utah STEM Action Center.
