After 30 years, the iconic first-person shooter Doom is still going strong. To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the genre-defining game, co-creator John Romero has released Sigil 2, a new free episode that pays homage to Doom while bringing some modern touches.
This “unofficial sixth episode” features nine standard levels and two deathmatch arenas for you to blast your way through. Accompanied by an all-new MIDI soundtrack and artwork, Sigil 2 aims to capture the essence of early Doom while putting a fresh spin on things.
Whether you’re a longtime fan eager for a nostalgia fix or a newbie looking to experience a piece of gaming history, Sigil 2 is a treat. And it’s free! Just head to Romero’s website to download the megawad file.
With new content releasing even three decades later, it’s clear Doom still reigns eternal. Here’s to 30 more years of successful slaughtering!
