In the past, the Advertising 2.0 Party was a lively event that brought together the worlds of Skittles, Web 2.0, and ad:tech SF. Back in 2009, this unique mashup of fun and technology was the official ad:tech afterparty on Tuesday, April 21.
At 8:30 pm, attendees would hop over half a block to the Hotel W, right after the evening’s events at Moscone Center West, including the ad:tech/SF BIG (6:30-8:30 pm) and the Affiliate Marketing Networking Party (5:30-7:30 pm). The party was co-hosted by a star-studded lineup of industry luminaries, such as Marissa Louie, Aaron Sahagun, Amanda Coolong, Efren Toscano, Juan Miguel de Joya, Julian Brass, Kamal Ravikant, Shawn Collins, Steve Hall, and Tom Foremski, among others.
The event was sponsored by AD-Village, JS-Kit, and, of course, Skittles, who provided the “Transplant the Rainbow” experience. Attendees could also add their own companies as sponsors for $100-$2,000, reaching out to Marissa Louie by April 16.
The party was supported by a range of media sponsors, including ad:tech (with an official writeup by Steve Hall from Adrants), Adrants, Affiliate Marketing Summit, Bub.blicio.us, and Techzulu. Attendance was limited to badged ad:tech SF attendees, with non-attendees able to add themselves to a waitlist.
The Advertising 2.0 Party was a celebration of the good times, even in the midst of the recession. It was a chance for Web 2.0 companies to come together and explore new ways of monetizing their offerings through advertising revenue. The event was a testament to the vibrant and innovative spirit of the industry at the time.
While the Advertising 2.0 Party may be a thing of the past, the spirit of collaboration, creativity, and adaptability that it embodied continues to shape the ever-evolving world of digital advertising and marketing.
