The PMBOK® Guide, fourth edition, focuses not on the construction phase of a project but rather the project management phase. Many of the same concepts apply in project management, but the emphasis is on the design phase. Additional topics in this installment focus on strategy development, resources, schedule, and cost. This is the last edition to focus exclusively on the design phase of a project. As on a PRINCE2 Certification Birmingham course.
First, you and your organization must clearly determine the goals of the project. The goals should be:
- Prior to Begin You Know What?
- When is the last time one of your direct reports said: “What do you want from me?” A Project Manager doesn’t get things done through indirect requests, denials, suggestions, and other non-critical functions within the project. You need to have that conversation before it’s necessary.
When You Lose Your Shoe
So you know you’ve lost your shoe. However, you’re not sure what it was. So how do you find out?
